For research-use only.
Retatrutide is a novel triple-receptor agonist peptide under investigation, acting on the GLP-1, GIP and glucagon receptors. (The research name is LY-3437943.)
Intended Use
This vial is intended strictly for in-vitro or animal model research. It is not approved by any regulatory body for human therapeutic use. Researchers should ensure compliance with local regulations, handle according to reagent grade protocols, and store appropriately (e.g., at ≤ -20 °C, reconstitute in sterile buffer, avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles).
Key Features & Specifications Peptide:
Retatrutide (LY-3437943)
Amount: 30 mg lyophilized powder
Purity: ≥ 99% (HPLC/MS certificate available)
Storage: Refrigerated or frozen per instrument guidelines
Usage: Reconstitution required; dilutions prepared per experimental design Research grade only — not for human or veterinary administration
Mode of Action / Mechanism
Retatrutide is designed to simultaneously activate three hormone receptors: The glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor The glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) receptor The glucagon receptor (GCGR) By engaging all three pathways, retatrutide promotes appetite suppression, delayed gastric emptying, enhanced energy expenditure, and improved metabolic control.
Reported Research Findings & Benefits
In a 48-week Phase 2 study in adults with obesity, retatrutide achieved body-weight reductions of up to ~24.2% (at the 12 mg weekly dose) versus placebo.
In the same study, participants with metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) experienced dramatic reductions in liver fat: for example ~82% reduction with an 8 mg dose and ~82-86% with the 12 mg dose at 24 weeks. Nature Animal and preclinical data show delayed gastric emptying, decreased food intake, improved dyslipidemia (reduced triglycerides, LDL), and improved insulin sensitivity.
PMC In early trials, even lower doses (e.g., 1–4 mg) produced meaningful weight loss and metabolic improvements, implying a dose-dependent effect. Nature Potential Research Benefits Enables in-vitro or in-vivo investigation of triple-incretin/agonist signalling and how combined GLP-1/GIP/glucagon receptor activation affects metabolic pathways. Offers a tool for studying fatty-liver (steatosis) models due to noted liver-fat reduction effects. Opens avenues for research on obesity, type 2 diabetes mellitus, and related metabolic dysfunction. Allows mechanistic studies on energy balance, appetite regulation, and receptor cross-talk.
Important Considerations & Limitations Not approved for human use — any human or veterinary use is off-label, experimental, and not sanctioned. The highest human data to date are from clinical trials; long-term safety, tolerability and adverse-events profile remain under investigation. Because it is a potent triple-agonist, research must monitor for potential off-target or excessive receptor stimulation effects (e.g., hypoglycaemia, gastrointestinal effects, or altered glucagon signalling).
Storage and handling must follow peptide-research best practices: protect from moisture, repeated freeze–thaw, ensure sterility in reconstitution.
Dose-response effects in research may not translate directly to human therapeutic doses; interpret findings appropriately. Suggested Storage & Handling Protocol (Research Use Only) Store the lyophilized vial at ≤ -20 °C until use. Before reconstitution, allow the vial to equilibrate to room temperature (~10-15 minutes) to reduce condensation. Reconstitute under sterile conditions in a suitable buffer (e.g., sterile water for injection or PBS, as per your lab standard) to achieve a desired concentration (for example, 1 mg/mL if aiming for 30 µg/µL). After reconstitution, aliquot to avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles; store aliquots at -80 °C or -20 °C as appropriate. Use within 30 days if stored at 2-8 °C; otherwise freeze.
